On August 30th (yesterday) 2014, I was getting my 7 month old into his car seat and one of the belts was twisted in the buckle making it uncomfortable. The vehicle was hot, and he was tired and started screaming at me as I was fixing the belt, and I reached for my key fob to auto-start the car which I'd only owned 24 hours, so the AC would go on to help him out. The autostart wouldn't work (doors have to be locked) so I locked the doors and tried again, didn't work (doors have to be closed also). In frustration I reached over, put the key in the ignition and started the car to get the AC going. I then got my son into his seat and closed the doors to walk around to my side of the car. I'd locked him in the car. I freaked out and grabbed a screwdriver and a hanger and tried to get in but the hanger wasn't stiff enough. The car was cool rapidly (a minute) and my son fell asleep, but I needed help. I called the Waukesha Sheriffs department and an officer incredibly arrived in 2-3 minutes and saved my son from being stuck in the car alone. I greatly appreciated his help. I wish I knew the deputies name. He was very professional and very helpful.
