UW Health West Clinic

Over the past 15 years, I've had just about every health insurance possible in Madison, which has also resulted in me seeing a lot of different providers. The Women's Health Clinic at the UW Clinic on Junction seriously has the best providers. Dr. Shobhina Chheda, Nurse Practitioner Lauren Gilbertson and Nurse Eva make up a ridiculously amazing team. I have a team of health care providers that actually communicate with each other and with me better than I've ever experienced before. I absolutely recommend this clinic and these providers!

If you have Blue Cross/Blue Shield you will pay not only a co-pay but also a facility fee just to go to a doctor at this clinic I spent about four days of my life discussing the inequity of this fee with UW. The facility charges more but doesn't provide any different or better care than other UW clinics. I also wasn't able to get a same day appointment with my doctor the entire year that I used this clinic. I ended up going back to UW West Towne Clinic. All UW facilities need to hire more Family Practitioners. I keep hearing about a shortage of doctors but it's been years now and you would think the administration could have a solution by now. Also, the check in system seems inefficient. at UW Health West. There is no one to greet you or answer any questions on the second floor until the nurse calls you back. You have to check in downstairs and then go upstairs to a waiting room with no options for assistance.

I can't even get someone on the phone to schedule an appointment!
