My father, who is overweight, bought some candy from the stand in the Public Market. After we purchased the candy, we walked over to Thief's Wine to purchase a couple of bottles before we went to our lake house in White Fish Bay.
When we walked over to Thief's Wine-- a place I've gone for two years, and a place that I've given more than enough money to, especially at my age-- one of the employees looked at my father with utter disgust, clearly referencing to his weight and him eating candy.
The employee was Aimee Murphy, who is listed as co-owner and director of operations at Thief Wine.
When we got to the register, Aimee did not make eye contact with neither my father or I. She didn't say "Hi!", didn't ask for assistance, and didn't even acknowledge the fact we were there. The only thing she acknowledged was my obese father and how disgusted she was.
About 2 minutes later, she did the exact same thing WITH MY WHOLE FAMILY THERE. It was utterly shameful. Did not even acknowledge us, but rather acted like an upset teenage girl who had to go into work on Sunday morning. Luckily, my father did not notice, but this was taken notice by my brother, my mother, and I.
Little does Aimee know that I had a brother pass away in 2014 via a drunk driver. My father, who was obviously hurt, just as my whole family was, then gained weight because he was depressed, lonely, and numb over the loss of his child, my brother. Some people deal with it in different ways, and my father dealt with it that way.
For Aimee to act the way she did in HER BUSINESS is completely uncalled for and unacceptable. Our family planned to have a nice day at the lake, but this really put a damper on our day because it brought up tough times we've had to go through.
I cannot believe I've been going to her shop this long with the way she acted today-- I am completely and utterly disgusted and sick to my stomach.
Simply said, I will never be back, and I will tell everybody I know about Aimee and my experience today.
