The cottage is really pretty and overall clean, but I was disgusted when, at the very end of our stay, I accidentally plopped my hand in a gooey substance under the bench in the shower. Upon further investigation, it was a black substance (mold?) mixed with gelatinous scum all under the shower bench. Really soured the visit for me. I left a softly worded note for the owners and thought I'd receive some kind of apology for the gross incident (I would absolutely have said SOMETHING to the guest if it were my rental cottage), but it's over a week later and have not received any email or phone call from either owner. The property is quite lovely, with views of the lake from almost every angle of the cottage. I would've liked to have known ahead of time, however, that the interstate is well within earshot once you step outside. There is a road directly across the cottage on the other side of the lake, maybe 250 feet away, which was not mentioned in the description of this "secluded" cottage. Both nights of our stay I was awakened multiple times by trains blowing their horns incessantly. I understand the owners of the cottage can't help trains blowing their horns, but this aspect really needs to be shared with potential guests. Because I am a person with a chronic, debilitating illness, I chose this place based on its promises of peace & quiet and seclusion & privacy, as I believe those things are very important for healing. While we did enjoy most of our time inside this cottage, I would not have chosen it if I knew then what I know now about roads, trains, shower scum, etc., nor will I choose this place again in the future. Not trying to over-exaggerate anything or be dramatic; just my honest opinion and review.
A lovely cozy cottage for a romantic get away. They do have some special instructions for the shower and tub, but nothing too stringent. The view of the pond is nice, plus depending on the season, it's a nice place to see a variety of birds. There's a grill, a small oven and a microwave for cooking needs. There is also a fire pit, a walking trail around the pond, and great view of the stars above.
