Rustic Ridge Log Cabins

Rustic Ridge Log Cabins in a word is fabulous! Located near Devil's Lake State Park, Parfrey's Glen and right across the road from Devil's Head Resort there are all kinds of outdoor opportunities available such as hiking, biking, skiing, golfing etc. and the Wisconsin Dells Is only 20 min away. The cabins were exceptionally clean and had all the things expected and more in a rental. We have stayed there many times and absolutely love the place.

I'll start off by saying that my review is not of the actual cabins or amenities provided by Rustic Ridge. This review is in regards to Rustic Ridge's customer service (or lack-thereof) and, specifically, my interactions with Ron Silverthorn. I booked my reservation with Rustic Ridge for February 9-11, 2018 as a nice Valentine's getaway with my girlfriend. I booked several months in advance and paid a 50% deposit. Two days prior to our trip, I informed Ron that a very large snowstorm was headed toward Chicago (largest storm since 2015), with a forecast of 10+ inches of snow hitting on the Friday that we would be driving up to the cabin. I requested that given the circumstances, if he could please cancel my reservation and not charge me the remaining 50%. He promptly refused and informed me that they would only be getting 1-3in of snow where they were so it wasn't a big deal...completely ignoring the fact that we would have to drive in dangerous conditions to get to the cabin. I then requested if we could at least change my reservation to a different weekend and not have re-pay, which was also denied with a response of "We cannot run a business based on weather." Which is fine, but I would say they also have a right and should run a business based on good customer service and sympathize with their customers during extraordinary circumstances. At the end of the day, Rustic Ridge has the right to enforce whatever cancellation policies they want. But I am also going to exercise my right of informing the public of their poor customer service.
