We had Rockweiler insulate the attic spaces of a cape cod home with a large slanted roof this past year. This included two knee wall attic spaces and an upper space. While the quality of work appears to be alright, a couple of issues frustrated us with the overall job. First, the work performed changed significantly after the initial estimation. Fortunately, few additional charges were incurred with these changes, which was appreciated, but it did cause a significant inconvenience as the work took longer to perform (4 1/2 days instead of 2) . Secondly, the estimator stated that we should expect to see cooler temperatures in the summer on our second floor, and warmer temperatures in the winter (both things one would expect from upgrading insulation). Unfortunately, so far our second floor has become much warmer in the summer, and takes longer to cool down at night. Rockweiler was nice enough to come back out and re-assess this, but they suggested adding additional gable vents in the knee wall attic areas - which unfortunately they don't do. I would have expected them to be able to assess the need for these during the initial estimation, as this will probably be an additional significant cost for work to be performed by a different general contractor. We are waiting to see how the insulation upgrade will affect temperatures in the winter, the hope is for a warmer second floor.
