Still no pier.
I visited last year and looked at some of their used piers. Everyone seemed friendly. Tried to make an offer on one of the piers all through the winter but no one was very interested in calling or emailing me back. Finally worked out a deal in March and made the mistake of paying for the pier and installation in advance. They told me installation would be between April 1st and May 30th. Its the end of June and still no pier. Every time I call they tell me the weather has been bad or the wind is coming from the wrong direction. Emailed last week and asked for my money back. No call back, no email back. Called again today, everyone is still very friendly, but no one who can answer any questions is ever in the office. I guess it's easy to be friendly when you already have the money. My neighbor told me they had a friend who didn't get their pier installed until August. Guess I should have asked around before I made a purchase there.
6/22 update: Got a call back, maybe they can install in next week.
7/22 update: Pier got installed a few weeks ago. They never called to let me know or schedule a date. Turns out they never used the barge they claimed they needed and was the reason for the delay. Found that out after talking to my neighbor. Apparently he let them drive their truck down his driveway to the waterfront. (They crushed some landscaping and a solar light in the process, which I'm going to pay for since it was so kind of my neighbor to let them use his driveway.) When I called to find out if I would be refunded the fee on my invoice for a barge and a barge crewman, Port-a-pier assured my my invoice was still open and they were backed up but they would get to it. Surprise invoice email! Now the barge and crewman fees were refunded but they found more expenses that weren't included on my initial invoice, so they want another $52.50. I informed them I would replace my neighbor's landscaping and lights for them and we would call it even. Guess we'll see how that turns out.
