They came out to give an estimate for a condo I own in downtown Milwaukee. They apparently took me for some city-slicker who could be duped, because they had the gall to send me two separate estimates for the work totaling over $3800. THIRTY-EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS to repair a little wet drywall from a leak originating in the unit above and to paint approximately 400 square feet of wall/ceiling. Work that (in Tim's own words) would have taken a grand total of about 6-8 hours to complete (granted, over a span of two days). If my math is correct, that is over $600/hour for routine contracting work, a couple gallons of paint, and a little bit of putty/drywall goop. Good work if you can get it.
I ultimately wound up getting the work done for under $800 from a different contractor that I found on Angie's List.
