Brookfield Rehabilitation & Specialty Care

We have a relative at Brookfield Rehab. The care and food is awful! This relative will sit for hours waiting to be changed, given water, etc. The most recent admittance to the hospital ( due to the lack of care at Brookfield Rehab) the hospital nurse told us how filthy this relative was! There are a few staff members that try, but they are very understaffed. Please don't ever send anyone there! I would give ZERO stars but that wasn't an option.

When Froedtert Hospital released my Dad on March 28th, they said he needed a primary physician in case additional PT is needed (looks to be the case). I took him to Froedtert/Medical College of WI health center in Waukesha today. The doctor actually cared, and was very thorough as the visit was an hour + (I'm lucky if I get 20 mins w/ my primary Dr). She prescribed med's for the swelling in Dad's legs/feet, and an antibiotic for the infection in his feet that he's had since before March 25th. I had his tennis shoes so loose, I had to tie the right one in a knot because I didn't have enough lace to tie it. That's how ballooned they are. Dad has been at Brookfield Rehab for a full week today. Guess what they have done for his infection and swelling? NOTHING!!! I picked up the med's from Target Pharmacy, and gave them to the nurse at Brookfield Rehab. What does she tell me? Nurse: Oh, we can't give these to your Dad because they didn't come from OUR pharmacy. Could you get his doctor to fax the prescription to our pharmacy, and then we can give it to him? Me: No, I already paid for his med's, they are already here (they were still stapled inside of the bags). Nurse: We have our own doctor here. Your doctor has done NOTHING for the infection and balloon swelling. That's not okay, and it's not normal! Your doctor had a WEEK to DO SOMETHING other than bill insurance. Since your doctor sucks, I didn't cancel his appointment to get a second opinion. Nurse: You need to show me the paperwork from the doctor authorizing these medications, they typically just call us with this info. The Doctors name and my Dad's name are on the packaging from Target pharmacy. Me: Oh, so you already have these medications on site? Nurse: No. We send the order to the pharmacy, and they get delivered. Me: Then I don't see why you can't use the med's I PAID money for. Nurse: I need the paperwork. Me: It's in my car. I'll go get it for you. She made a photocopy for their records. The nurse in charge expected me to throw the pills away, so duplicate pills could be ordered. I told my sister about what happened because I had a feeling the nurse was lying to my face. I trusted they would give my Dad his medication. When my sister came later in the evening, she asked Dad if they gave him any pills. He said no. She went to the nurses station. Before my sister could open her mouth, the nurse just handed my sister the unopened bag from Target Pharmacy. My sister had to cancel the order they put in against my orders after I said I paid for them. My sister had to give my Dad his medication to get better. She gets to drive there in the morning to do a simple job of giving him his pills. If they are left in the room, they will confiscate them even though it's prescribed. 5 stars? Serving hot dogs isn't 5 stars. Lying to a patients family isn't 5 stars. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVE ONES TO THIS FACILITY!!! They don't care. They just want money.
